Poolsuite

Poolsuite is a curated internet-radio project that mixes music with the look and feel of an old computer. It began as Poolside FM in 2014 before evolving into the larger Poolsuite experience.

Rather than choosing individual songs like a normal streaming service, you pick a channel or mixtape and let the site decide what comes next.

The site drops you into a fake vintage computer whose clock insists it is 1997. Choose a music channel, tune into the live feed, or open one of the longer guest mixtapes and let it play.

Keep clicking and the radio opens into a larger Poolsuite world with things like events, a guestbook, newsroom posts, and other little corners built around the same endless-summer atmosphere.

Most music services try to make the interface disappear. Poolsuite makes the interface part of the reason to visit.

Pixel-like controls, old desktop conventions, vintage leisure imagery, and a computer permanently stuck in another decade turn pressing play into a small piece of internet time travel.

Poolsuite could have stopped at being an internet radio station. Instead, it built an entire imaginary summer computer around the music.

That combination of hand-picked songs, retro interface design, and unnecessary little details turns background listening into the kind of browser rabbit hole OpenWeird is made for.
