What is HEAVEN | En Abîme?

En Abîme is the kind of site that makes more sense once you stop expecting it to behave like a normal website. It began as an alternate-reality game that ran from 2024 to 2026, with HEAVEN serving as one of the entry points into the experience.

In February 2026, its creators linearized and archived the ARG so people could revisit it after the live game ended. The archive adds navigation arrows and out-of-story context, but many of the links that were originally hidden in the pages are still there.

What happens when you visit?

From this archived entry page, you can take the obvious route and follow the added arrows, or start clicking around to see what you uncover on your own. Most of the old password barriers have been removed, so it is much easier to move through than it was while the ARG was live.

What I like about that setup is that you get to choose how orderly you want the experience to be. Follow the arrows and it reads like an archive. Ignore them and start poking around, and it feels much more like stumbling into a rabbit hole.

What makes it weird or unusual?

The strangest part is that the website was never the whole thing. During the ARG's original run, stickers and posters appeared around New York City, New Haven, Princeton, Chicago, and Bethesda. Scan one of the QR codes and you could end up on this very page.

That changes how the archive feels. A hidden link on a strange website is one thing. Knowing the same trail once began on a poster or sticker out in the real world makes the whole project feel bigger than the browser window. Even archived, it still carries the sense that there is probably one more thing you haven't noticed yet.

Why is it on OpenWeird?

This is exactly the kind of rabbit hole I want OpenWeird to keep in circulation. En Abîme rewards the instinct to click one more thing, follow one more fragment, and see whether the next page finally makes the whole thing click.

It may not. That's part of the appeal. En Abîme feels made for the web rather than simply hosted on it: strange, atmospheric, and happiest when you stop looking for instant answers and start exploring.
