OpenWeird respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use OpenWeird, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Information we collect

OpenWeird does not require you to create an account.

We do not ask visitors to provide personal information just to use the portal, browse the directory, or visit the website.

However, some information may be collected automatically when you visit OpenWeird, including:

  • basic device and browser information
  • pages visited
  • approximate location based on IP address
  • referral information
  • date and time of visit
  • basic usage and performance data

This information is used to keep the site working, understand general traffic patterns, improve the website, and protect the site from abuse.

Analytics

OpenWeird uses Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site.

These tools may collect usage information such as page views, browser type, device type, approximate location, referral source, and interactions with the website. This information helps us understand what parts of OpenWeird are being used and how the site can be improved.

Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to collect and process data. You can control cookies through your browser settings and may also use tools provided by Google to manage or limit Google Analytics tracking.

Cloudflare, hosting, and security

OpenWeird uses Cloudflare for DNS, hosting, security, performance, and analytics.

Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, request data, device information, browser information, and security-related data in order to deliver the website, protect it from abuse, and provide analytics and performance services.

Local browser activity

OpenWeird may show a local activity feed on the site.

This activity feed is stored only in your own browser. It is not sent to OpenWeird servers and is not stored by OpenWeird. If you clear your browser data, this local activity may be removed.

Google Form submissions

OpenWeird uses Google Forms to collect website submissions.

The submission form currently asks for:

  • website name
  • website URL

The form does not intentionally collect your email address and does not require you to sign in with Google to submit.

When you submit a website through the Google Form, your submission is processed by Google Forms and may be subject to Google’s own privacy practices. Please do not submit private, sensitive, or personal information through the form.

Contact by email

If you contact OpenWeird by email, we may receive your email address, your message, and any information you choose to include.

We use this information only to read, manage, and respond to your message. We do not sell your contact information.

Cookies and similar technologies

OpenWeird may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for analytics, performance, and basic site functionality.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work exactly as intended if certain browser features are disabled.

Third-party websites

OpenWeird links to third-party websites.

When you click the portal, use the randomizer, visit a website from the directory, or click an external link, you may leave OpenWeird and visit a website controlled by someone else.

OpenWeird does not control third-party websites, their content, their security, or their privacy practices. You should review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

Advertising and affiliate links

OpenWeird does not display ads at launch and does not currently use affiliate links in the directory or randomizer.

If OpenWeird adds advertising, ad networks, or affiliate links in the future, this Privacy Policy may be updated to explain how those services work and what information they may collect.

Children’s privacy

OpenWeird is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to OpenWeird, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Data retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or allowed by law.

Website submissions may be kept for review and site curation. Email messages may be kept as long as needed to respond, manage records, or protect the site.

Your choices

You can:

  • disable or clear cookies in your browser
  • clear your local browser storage
  • avoid submitting information through the Google Form
  • avoid sending personal information by email
  • contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information you have provided to us

Changes to this Privacy Policy

OpenWeird may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
